The Human With The Wings Of An Angel

Back in a time now forgotten, people once had wings of their own. However through many years these people fell from the sky and became human. These winged beings became a part of Earth and they slowly forgot about their wings. Nobody has any memory of such past event, for the events were never recorded or recalled. Thousands of years later, a human was born who later grew up to imagine such times.

This person wasn't any different from everyone else. He had a normal family, went to school, worked passionately on what he personally enjoyed and he looked like any other person. Nothing seemed to special about him. In the spiritual/mental world, he was a bit different. Not to say he was crazy, but he was normally stuck in a fantasy world of his own and occasionally other peoples worlds. One of the many things he pretended to have was the wings of an angel.
The way he had used them in his own world, was that he wrapped them around people in order to signify a hug of some sorts. When he himself was hurt from something, he imagined his own wings wrapping around him. At times he actually felt as though the wings really were there and that he really were embracing the person. He had been tempted to ask people if they somehow felt that, but he was aware that he was in his own "imagination" and that people would look at him strangely.
One day in his Sophomore year a Junior gave into depression and insanity, and went on a rampage at the school. The teen shot a few people before he got to his classmate, the kid of this story. He threatened to shoot him if he didn't entertain him in some way. Panicking, he tried to dance but he tripped over a book, that had fallen off a nearby desk. As he fell the Junior shot at him as he cursed. Many people say the bullets hit something right before actually hitting him however too many people were frightened by the gun shots, only one person managed to notice.
Just as he hit the ground, the police finally arrived and arrested the Junior. For the rest of his high school life people spoke of that day and wondered how the bullets had not wounded their classmate. One in particular tried to tell them, but they all laughed at her. In his third year of high school, the girl finally became brave enough and told him that the day the shooting happened, she saw transparent wings folded on his back that day. At first he presume she was just bullying him, but he started to notice the honesty that seemed to be radiating from her to him.
Finally, when he graduated, everybody including his family, classmates, and even the teachers saw his wings. They were mesmerized by them. Quite a few people thought they were just hallucinating it, until they asked people around them. Sure enough, wings really did spread out from his back. The wings were a pure white that were a few inches longer then his arms reach. At that moment, a light surrounded him as a giant gate opened behind him.
Out from the gate, a powerful voice spoke saying that he was the first human to regain his wings. He stepped back into the giant gates and said his final words as the doors closed on in front of him. Very few people were blessed to keep the memory of the event; his parents and the girl. Perhaps one day more humans will join with him, the human with the wings of an angel.

The Unexpected Hero

There once lived a complete failure. He could not do a single thing right, he was completely despised. Despite this, he managed to join the army. At the time a great war between humans and unnamed invaders who wanted to destroy humanity. The humans were escaping when only twenty of the ships were left.
As they flew off five more were shot from the invaders. When he looked out of the window he saw the ships fall from the sky. He stood up suddenly and ran to the other end of the ship were an opening was. The others on the ship saw him running over, they urged him not to jump off. But he simply smiled right before he jumped out.
He landed on an invader ship, shooting the pilot. He jumped off again and as he fell, he shot down more ships. As he fell right past one, he cut it in two with the massive sword in his hands. He took out two knives from his ankle. He threw them at other invader ships, hitting the pilot with surprising precision.
He shot down another ten ships with the last of his bullets, and threw his gun at one right below him, hitting a crucial part of it and breaking it. He landed on the ground and ran at the massive army that was once below him. As he ran through them, they fell down to his sword. When he finally reached the end of them he smiled and fell to his knees.
He died there knowing that he had turned the tide of the war, saving the world. They built a statue where he had died, telling him how he was once useless and how nobody had cared about him. But despite this, he faced the impossible odds and succeeded. There on the plaque, as the title it read "The Unexpected Hero".

Belief Part 1 - Mystery Man

My parents were at work when I arrived at home from school. I walked in and sat down on the couch in front of the TV, since I didn't have any homework. The first channel to come on was a black and white drama about a kid that was about fifteen, who could do anything that he set his mind to. For example he would close his eyes and put his hand on a wall. He then would believe that he could walk through, or that it wasn't really there, allowing him to actually walk through it.
Most people in my school thought it was stupid, but I honestly find it to be very interesting. According to my grandpa it was very popular when he was in 8th grade. My parents even said that they had watched it on TV. This day was normal for awhile, until it reached dinner time. Now my mom would be cooking something delicious as my dad would sit at the table drooling, but not this time.
Unlike other times, they still weren't home. Shortly before dinner time I checked the phone to see if I somehow missed a phone call and that there was a message. I looked on the door and on the counter table to see if I missed a note. There was none. The day got weirder when the earth under my feet started to shake. Where I live earthquakes never occur and when they do, they are very vague, and from about a hundred miles away. Despite that, the earthquake was much more powerful than normally.
The door mysteriously swung open and an old man walked in. I tried to tell him that this wasn't his house but I could not muster a word. He looked at me and smiled as though he knew me. All I could do was stare at him.
"I'm sorry that I intruded, Vani." He said as I suddenly could speak again.
"How do you know my name? Why are you here?"
"How I know your name is currently irrelevant and I am here to teach you something that has nearly been forgotten. Have you ever seen the old show, Belief?" I could only answer his question.
"Yes, I was watching it a few hours ago."
"Good," He nodded "you should be able to understand me." He sat down at the dining table gesturing for me to sit on the other side. I did so. "I am the same person who played as Paul. If you've ever payed attention to the credits you'd see Paul's actor was named Paul Teich. I am Paul Teich."
"You're kidding aren't you?" I said as I grabbed a slice of bread from a basket. I didn't notice than but it only than just appeared there.
"No, Vani, I tell the truth. Everything you see in Belief was real."
"Even as the supposed actor of Paul you're in the fantasy world. I'm not a gullible idiot. Everything was fake." The old man sighed at this.
"Watch." He said as he touched the table. He closed his eyes and from what I can tell, concentrated. Suddenly the table vanished. I jumped in surprise. "See? I can do as I did in the show. Why? Because everything was real." I somewhat ignored this.
    "Impossible... nobody can do that."
"That's not true," He quickly replied. "But only a few can."
"Why do you come to me?" I stammered.
"Because you are the only other person that can do such things. Simply close your eyes, and such power will come alive."
I wanted to wake up even though I knew very well I wasn't dreaming. Something forced me to do what he told me to do. I closed my eyes and started to believe that I was in my bed and that was I about to wake from my dream. I reopened my eyes to find myself in bed. I looked at the clock to see what time it was.     The clock said school had just ended. I got out of bed, panicking, thinking that I accidentally slept through the whole school day. I saw my parents doing their normal things. My mom looked up at me and said.
"Feeling better are you? We found you sick laying on the ground."
